i think the best thing to do is to call your local department of social services or housing of urban development,if that don't work ,you call always call or visit a church.the department of family services.homeless hotline 1-888-731-0999, that just in my area but if u call they can guide u.

I am currently in an unstable and un healthy situation. I rent a room from someone Ive known for years but there is no heat inside the house. My room is about 19 degrees at this moment. I purchased a space heater but I am not able to use it because the electric is so outdated, when I plug it up, the lights go out and the breaker box has to be flipped. Not to mention my "landlord" complains about the electric bill even though I pay $300.00 PLUS spend my entire amount of foodstamps and do not even eat the food I buy. I do work and I go to school full-time. I am doing the best I can but I just cannot seem to save enough to get rent and deposit for an apartment and I am also scared that with my unstable hours at my job that I will not be able to afford rent and all my other bills. I need help. I am not from PA originally and I have no family here to assist me. I do have a car which I have sincerely thought about moving into because I figured the rent would be cheaper and heat would be included but then I am faced with the situation of showering and parking someone safe. I do nto know what to do. I am continuously sick because of lack of heat and it makes it difficult to concentrate at work and with my studies. I do not want pity at all. I am a strong woman. I am just asking if anyone knows where I can find a stable shelter or assistance program that will help me save up for my own apartment or house. I cannot take the living conditions any longer but I really do not have any other options. I also am tired of the emotional and verbal abuse I deal with if I complain. I am trying so hard and I cannot understand why I must go through what I am goign through. If there is anyone out there that can direct me to assistance, you are much appreciated.
