My husbad and I moved here from Florida, Naples. My husbands business went bankrupt, he found temp. work in Dunn, NC, and now is layed off.
Being here in the town Benson, we are unable to find employment, and have become homeless. We think that a larger town would give us a benifit towards all the things that we need to live. We have been attending a church on a regular basis. And will continue to do so no matter where we reside.
Because we are new to the area, we feel that to burden the church after such a short time we be unapproprate.
We just need help to take a step in the right direction in a town with oppurtunities.
Please reply to us as soon as possible. So that we may possibily secure a temp shelter to help us get back on our feet.

I feel for you all. I too just moved up from Sarasota Fl after the job market for mainframe programmers dried up. I to am homeless and living in a car. I have a beautiful 4 year old boy who is autistic. For God grace he is living with his mother in Cary NC is a subsided apt complex. Unfortunately I am not allowed to live there because of my unemployment. I found some places for families by contacting a church call Crosspointe church in Cary. I have been living in laurinburg with my 13 year old son for a year now. I have not been able to secure employment since January. I was working at cambell soup in maxton from july to january. I was laid off from cambell soup because I was using my cousins car on a temporary basis. When the car was returned to her i had no transportation, I now have a car. I lost the apartment my son a i was living in . I have been residing in a single mens shelter. I have been looking for employment in group homes detention centers i enjoy working with adolesant males. I will take anything at this point. I done want to have to send my son back to Albany he likes it here and is now doing very well in school. I am unable to have him in the shelter where i am now. I am willing to leave this town hoping to stay in north Carolina. My son is currently visiting family in Albany, i hope to secure a job before the new school year begins. I don't want to tell him that he cannot return to live with me. We came here for a new start a better life my son needs to be with father. are there any shelters here or in the surrounding arrears that would take my son an i until i get on my feet. I am new to north Carolina and don't know where to turn at this point.

My husband, myself, my fourteen year old daughter, my ten year old son, and my nine year old son are homeless, no income and unemployed. hello i dont know where to start, my family and i are homeless. i have five girls and five boys. last year i was doing really good ,then my sister could not take care of her kids, so i took them in after they move in everything went down for us, i lost my job, my wife got sick and my nices try to kill her self.right now we are living from place to place.my family is so big so people dont want us to stay long. i cant find a job. i get $705.00 for ssi use that to buy food and somtime stay in a motel. if there anyone out there could help me and my family please wirte back thank you.

Hi. Don't know if you have already found a shelter, but the Raleigh Rescue Mission drives people to and from work from what I have read on their site. Phone number there is 919-828-9014. I hope this helps. God bless.

I am a single women who has fallen down on my luck, was laid off in January and I have struggled to keep things up and finally I lost everything so I have nothing. I have a 8 year old daughter and we are currently homeless. My daughter has not even been enrolled in school because we just float from place to place and have nothing permanent. We have no family so it is just us and I am willing to do anything that doesnt demand much physically. I have a degree and a strong computer background. During the summer I almost had a job but 4 days before it was final my leg gave and I am temporarily disabled. I have not had any post surgery care or physical therapy. Does anyone know where homeless families are staying other than shelters in the raleigh/cary/apex area? I keep hearing about families in tent camps/sleeping in their cars etc after losing jobs etc, but I don't know where they are. Sometimes I have extra leftovers or can provide sandwiches/etc (though modest). I know a lot of people go to Moore Square/Nash Square and there are resources available there. Are there other areas where families are living that need help?

I am also a single woman with two small children. Eleven and eleven months.I have lost my job and have been struggling to keep going and the family together. My boyfriend also lost his job because he couldn't afford to pay for transportation back and forth. That caused us to be evicted and now we are living separately till we can be together again. Us and the children. I really prefer not to be moving here and everywere with my daughter being so young. That wasnt the case he didnt have a job for him or a house and can not be located we talked to him until the day we arrived the day we got here no answer wrong address and a lot of run around.
We are now living out of a car and the transmission has went out
Had a friend who has taking us in for a few days but now is saying that we must leave in a few days .
I dont know where we will go and because we are not married many shelters do not have anything for use .I've tried to get into one with just me and my daughter but they dont have any space .
