Come on to Maine!!! Those kind of jobs are needed desperately. I just saw 3 adds in paper yesterday for social workers, directors for places with social workers experience, etc. Lot's of people have the wrong idea of Maine I believe. But: if you live near the coast the weather is absolutely gorgeous. Don't have to have air-conditioning in summer (except this summer)! There is no summer anywhere like here, and I have traveled all over. Winters can be a bit tough; but not usually alot of snow; does get cold, and icy; but doesn't last forever. I guess inland is okay too; but there the weather is a bit more extreme, and the coast is absolutely a beautiful. peaceful, quiet place to live. People stay to themselves, and don't bother you. Some "MAINERS" (born and raised here); does not like us outsiders; but I have found them to be far and few in between also. Places to rent is a dime a dozen, and places to buy even more so. As far as shelters??? Maybe inland; don't know much about that. But I do know that if you can't afford medical care here, children or not, you are eligible for Maine Care, and foodstamps. New England is such a compassionate place. If you need help with ANYTHING-IT IS OUT THERE!!! Food Pantrys which give away dog food, etc. I'd say come on!!! Look in the Blue Hill area. A very unique, friendly village, with a hospital, and DRS. offices across from it. Other than that is downeast Maine (which I would NOT reccomend to a dog)ha. They call it the "OTHER STATE OF MAINE." VERY WEIRD, AND FLAT, AND UGLY!!! Just my opinion. Brooksville, Penobscot, Brooklin, Ble Hill, etc. is all very nice places, and rent runs from $500.00-$1000.00 a month. Depending on what your looking for. I live in a modular, fancy, 3 bdrm./ 2 bath that I have rented for 3 years, and getting ready to buy. I pay $700.00 a month. It's off the road, a garage, and 133 acres of woods. Up at the front of the property is a small upstairs, very unique, and cute 1 bdrm. Great for 1 person, and they'd let you have a dog, and it is $500.00 a month & utilities are included. My e-mail is mysticone@live.com if you want to know more, or need anything. Feel free to e-mail me, and good luck. Don't think you'd be sorry!!!
