I am sorry to hear of your unfortunate circumstances and hope that our shelter can be of aid as you strive to return to self-sufficiency. Although we are not a provider of Section 8 housing, we may be able to offer you a temporary shelter as you seek more permanent housing.

I am including a description of our services for women with children below:

Our Center for Women and Families offers shelter for women, families, and single parents with children, but let me caution you by saying that our beds remain full most of the time. A client should call in advance to let our Intake Manager know of her position so she can make arrangements for them (number included below).

Once a family joins the case-managed program they will have full access to all of our services, including individualized case-management, educational and vocational training opportunities. We have a fully licensed daycare for children up to four years of age, and also provide a VPK program. Children that are old enough to attend school are enrolled in a nearby public school and attend Boys and Girls Club at the Coalition in the afternoons. Mental health counseling is available through Lakeside Behavioral Healthcare if needed, as well as our New Beginnings Child Development Program, which provides counseling for children and their families. The family will be assigned a case manager who will work to assist them in gaining either education or employment, as well as setting up a budget and savings account. By progressing through our case-managed plan they can possibly progress to our Scattered Site housing program, which aids individuals and families as they move back out into the community.

There is a small fee per night ($2 without income, $20/week if employment or income) but this provides shelter and a meal, in addition to our other services.

Hi my name is Marysha cameron and I'm a single mother of four and I'm in dire need for assistance in housing or shelters. I lost my job due to new management and I currently now receive unemployment. I have been staying in a hotel but my unemployment is not enough to cover the $200.00 every week for rent, so now I'm behind on rent and have to be out by this friday and I have nowhere to go. My name is Melissa ans I am in dire straits. A year ago I lost my job of 18 yrs. I was living off of unemployment barely making ends meet. I have an 11 yrs old son who I sent to live with his dad (he lives in semilnole county) because I could not provide for him off the measly amopunt I was getting from unemployment. I am married but my husband and I are not getting along and decided to separate. He also has lost one of his jobs as the company he works for is going out of buisness. I have a job but it does not pay enough for me to get an apartment on my own. Our lease has run out and we could not resign as we could not afford to live there anymore. Now I am facing homelessness in two months, October 31st to be exact. I am terrified of this reality and have no where ot go. I can not depend on my family as they are not willing to help or can not help. My goal is to get my son back with me. He has been separated from me for going on two years now and it is breaking my heart not to have him with me. I do not know what to do. I feel so helpless and lost. Can someone, anyone please give me some advice pn what to do or hwelp in some way. The job market in Florida is terrible and its really hard for me to find a better one. I would be willing to just rent a room instead of living out of my car.
