Newly Single Mom of 3 in Desperate Need of Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted in Homeless Shelters for Women about 1 year ago, 8 replies

I am a 28 year old mom with 3 kids living in Richmond Virginia....I am living in a hotel and I can no longer afford it....I have just recently seperated from my husband and have no family here in VA...I am not looking for money just a safe clean enviroment for me and my children until I get on my feet...I have applied to every income based apartment in the Richmond VA area as well as the housing authority, but that takes a little time to be approved...I am in desperate need of help right now...I have never been in this situation before as far as having to ask strangers for help...I am not on drugs and do not live a unhealthy lifestyle....I love my children dearly and just need someplace safe for them to stay as I have stated b4....serious inquiries only

Thank you Troy,I will look into these places ASAP,I went to the homeless shelter today which is August 17th and they really aren't much help........It seems that I have to be smoking crack or actually living on the corner panhandling for them to take me serious

I know what you mean. The economy is so bad and the homeless population is so high most shelters are in crisis mode. They are just too overcrowded. A lot of shelters just give you a meal and a bed - then out you go. What they really need is a comprehensive structured program with access to transportation and access to local, state, and federal programs to get you back on your feet. At least it’s easier to get help if you are a single Mom compared to a single Dad or male.

I opened my home up to a single Mom only to find out later that she was on the rock, bi-polar and on the lam. That didn’t end well needless to say but I get satisfaction knowing that I did all that I could to help them and after serving her time she woke up and started focusing on her child.

Whatever the circumstances, there is always someone out there that is willing to listen and help. Ask family, friends, acquaintances, and local churches for temporary assistance. Be diligent, have faith, keep your head screwed on straight and focus on your babies and you should be okay.

Hi Shaun... I was once in your situation, homeless with two children. And it can be hard getting services. How are things going with you now. I hope your situation has improved.
